If we helped you buy a home in 2016 that is your primary residence, you need to apply for your Homestead Exemption. Even if you didn't buy a home last year, but you are a homeowner, you can still apply for your Homestead Exemption as long as it is your primary residence. Now is the time to do so.

A homestead exemption helps you save on taxes on your home. An exemption removes part of the value of your property from taxation and lowers your taxes. For example, if your home is valued at $100,000 and you qualify for a $20,000 exemption, you pay taxes on your home as if it was worth only $80,000.

You may find the form on your County Appraisal District's website or give them a call. If you need help with finding your county's website or phone number, give us a call or email us and we'd be happy to walk you through the process and save you money on your taxes!
